Funke Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa or Suliya, is a young talented yoruba actress who rose to fame in "I Need To Know", a TV series, and went on to earn a monstrous fame with her rib cracking movie, "JENIFA". So far, Funke has made over N56 million, netting over N20 million in 2012 alone. In her movie "The Return of Jenifa", Funke earned N35 million. Her movie, "Married but Living Single" made N9.9 million while "Maami" made N11 million. The actress is on her way to another cinema glory with a movie, "A Wish". Let’s hope she will be able to wave the magical wand again and create a box-office success.

Her movie, Jenifa cuts across all social groups with the street parlance in it becoming the mode of communication in social gathering. Everyone now says "YELSE" instead of YES, "BIZ GIRL" instead of BIG GIRL, and so on. Aside the fact that she's the richest yoruba movie actress, i think she's the most creative amongst them all. 40-Year Old Man Beaten To Death For Defiling Cow

In an act of bestiality which attracted the fury of residents in a Kenyan community, a 40-year old man has been beaten to death by a mob after he was caught red handed having s*xual relations with a cow. According to the cow owner, he heard his cow mowing wildly and on checking, he found his cow leg tied so that it won’t move while the man mounted it.

Upon raising an alarm, even as he fought to contain the man, shocked residents arrived at the scene of the incident to find the unclad man and the badly tied and injured cow. The irate mob descended on the man beating him with blunt objects and stones which led to his death.

While confirming the incident, Kirinyaga OCPD Apollo Onyonyi, condemned the residents for taking the law into their own hands and beseeches them to allow police to deal with criminals. The man’s remains were taken to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary.

One Year-Old Child Dies After Being Given ‘Anointed Oil’ By Prophet

Self styled prophet and prophetess who allegedly caused the death of a one-year-old baby after giving him a harmful concoction have been freed on $30 bail each. Prophet Mutsvene Makaya (36) and his wife Prophetess Ndakaziva Mawire (39), on Tuesday appeared before magistrate Anita Tshuma facing culpable homicide charges. According to State Papers, the self styled Prophet Makaya and his wife Prophetess Mawire are married.

The court heard that the deceased child was taken to prophet Makaya and prophetess Mawire’s home by his parents for spiritual healing last month. It is alleged that the two ‘man and woman of God’ prepared a mixture of salt, lemon, vinegar, cooking oil and honey which they gave the child to drink.

According to State papers, the child’s health deteriorated and he was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The minor, according to the medical report, died of asphyxia due to aspiration gastric contents. It was later discovered that the boy died as a result of taking the ‘anointed mixture’ which he was given by the prophet and prophetess.

Magistrate Tshuma released the ‘spiritual healers’ on US$30 bail each. As part of their bail conditions, they should report to police every Friday and desist from prescribing ‘anointed mixtures’ of any nature. The Prophet and Prophetess will be back in court on 31 December.

Nigeria now import diesel and gas from Niger Republic

Kano Controller, Department of Petroleum Product (DPR), Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar has revealed that Nigerian Marketers now import AGO and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) from neighboring OPEC member country, Niger Republic. Briefing reporters in his office on the activities of his department, Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar explained that the two products are in the exclusive list of deregulated items, adding that “it could be acquired from anywhere and sold in the Nigerian market.

Alhaji Abubakar said that such importation does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government, maintaining that the DPR does not regulate their market prices unlike the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The Controller who responded to a question on whether the Department has the power to regulate prices said, “yes, Nigeria now imports AGO, that is Diesel, and LPG, otherwise known as Gas from Niger Republic, and  I want to state clearly that this venture does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government”.

Alhaji Abubakar further revealed that the Department has sealed no fewer than 10 service stations and destroyed two illegal fuel dumps within and around Kano, in the last couple of weeks, for selling products above the official pump price stated that the “affected companies were appropriately sanctioned.”

The police in Owerri, the Imo state capital told reporters during a press briefing yesterday that Nkiru Sylvanus' family paid N8 million to the kidnappers before she was released on Thursday night.

The Commissioner of Police, Adisa Bolanta, said the family did this without the knowledge of the police. He said they had warned the family not to negotiate or deal directly with the kidnappers but they defied their orders

"They defied our warnings and continued negotiations with the kidnappers. They went behind us and paid N8 million to them. We have made some arrests in connection with the case and very soon they will all be apprehended." He said

A prison break in Mexico left 22 dead, after a shootout erupted between inmates and prison guards.
The 22 dead in the prison break included nine guards and 13 inmates, according to police in the state of Durango in Mexico. The attempted escape happened Tuesday night, at a prison near Gomez Palacio, near some of the areas hit hardest by the ongoing drug violence south of the border.
The 22 dead in the prison break was a higher number than original estimates. This is one of several high-profile prison breaks in Mexico in the last year, including an incident in which 140 prisoners walked out of the front door of a jail in Coahuila, near the US border.

Okonjo-Iweala’s mum kidnapped, Suspect arrested


Security agents were battling all yesterday to find the unknown gunmen who kidnapped Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s mother. Prof. Kamene Okonjo, 82, was kidnapped by eight gunmen who stormed the Ogbe-Ofu palace of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State in two cars shortly before 2pm. The octogenarian Professor of Medicine is the wife of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, Prof Chukwuka Aninshi Okonjo, who was not in town at the time of the incident. Delta State police spokesman Charles Muka said: “Yes, we have got the information on the kidnap. We also have information that will lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.”

Nigerians Should Learn To Live With Hardship - Petrol Minister, Alison, Madueke
Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Wednesday in Abuja, while addressing journalists, said the demands by Nigerians for transparency and accountability coupled with the government’s determination to ensure same, was the cause of the sufferings presently experienced by Nigerians.
